Aurora blueberry is one of the latest varieties, which is ideal for extending the berry picking season. It is characterized by high yield, excellent fruit taste and excellent disease resistance.
Variety characteristics
Bush: The plant reaches 1.5 m in height, forms a compact, medium-branched crown. The leaves are dense, dark green, in autumn they change color to red-orange, adding decorativeness to the area. Due to its structure, the bush tolerates winter frosts and spring frosts well.
Berries: The fruits are large, 16–18 mm in diameter, rounded, with a characteristic dark blue color and a pronounced wax coating. The taste is sweet, with a slight sourness, they have dense pulp, which makes them ideal for storage and transportation.
The yield is high - up to 6-9 kg from the bush. Ripening begins in late August and lasts until mid-September, allowing you to enjoy fresh berries longer than most other varieties.
Soil: Aurora Blueberry prefers acidic soils with a pH level of 4.5–5.5. It grows best on light, well-drained, peaty or sandy-loamy soils. It is important to ensure good aeration of the root system, as stagnant water can lead to root rot.
Care: Requires regular watering, especially during the fruiting period. Fertilization - with acidic fertilizers in spring and summer. It is important to mulch the soil to retain moisture.
Pruning: Annually, in early spring. Remove old, weak and thickened branches to improve lighting and rejuvenate the bush.
