Zakarpatskyi Kiwi is a vigorous, tree-like vine that requires a strong support or trellis. The variety is known for stable fruiting and is well adapted to growing conditions in Ukraine. An important feature of the cultivar is self-pollination, which means the plant can produce a harvest without additional pollinators. Flowering begins in the second half of May. The flowers are light, white-cream, and fragrant. Fruit ripening occurs in autumn, with harvesting usually carried out in October.
The fruits are medium-sized, weighing about 50–80 g. The skin is brown with characteristic light fuzz. The flesh is bright green, juicy, with a pleasant sweet-and-sour taste and a distinct fruity aroma.
For planting, choose a sunny location or light partial shade, preferably protected from strong winds. Kiwi grows best in fertile, light, slightly acidic soils with good drainage. Seedlings are planted in early spring or autumn. The plant requires regular watering, as it does not tolerate prolonged drought well. With proper care, fruiting begins approximately 3–4 years after planting.
For stable growth and productivity, annual sanitary and formative pruning is recommended, removing weak, dry, and damaged shoots. In spring, it is advisable to apply organic and nitrogen fertilizers (urea or ammonium nitrate), and in autumn — phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. The variety has good winter hardiness and, under favorable conditions, can withstand temperatures down to –25…–28 °C.
