Gooseberry Xena is an early-ripening variety, with fruits maturing at the end of June. The bush enters fruiting quickly and produces a stable, high yield that increases as the plant matures.
The berries are very large—up to 14 g, round-oval in shape, and deep red with a glossy shine. The skin is smooth and firm, with a dry detachment. The flesh is juicy, sweet, with a pleasant aftertaste. The fruits transport well, maintain their marketable appearance, and are suitable for fresh consumption, freezing, and processing.
The bush is strong, with vertically growing shoots, reaching up to 1.2 m in height. The crown is moderately spreading, convenient for care and harvesting. There are few thorns, and older shoots have even fewer, which simplifies manual berry picking.
This variety is winter-hardy and resistant to powdery mildew and other fungal diseases. Optimal conditions are sunny areas with fertile, well-drained soil. Regular watering during fruit development and annual formative pruning are recommended.
