Hosta Albomarginata is a perennial ornamental foliage plant with a dense, rounded clump. A mature plant reaches 50–60 cm in height and forms an even, well-shaped mound that does not fall apart. The variety is suitable for both solitary and group plantings and maintains a stable, attractive appearance throughout the entire season.
The leaves are basal, borne on thick petioles, heart-shaped, and slightly wavy. The main color is dark green with an irregular white margin along the edges. Leaf contrast depends on light conditions: in partial shade the margin is more pronounced, while in deeper shade the foliage becomes darker. The foliage remains декоративative from spring to autumn.
Flowering occurs in July–August. The flowers are large, bell-shaped, purple in color, and borne on tall flower stalks. On young plants, flower stalks may be removed to help form a more uniform clump. This does not affect plant development and helps maintain a neat appearance.
The variety grows best in shade or partial shade and requires consistently moist but well-drained soil. The plant is sensitive to drought: lack of moisture causes leaf tips to dry, while waterlogging can lead to root rot. Regular mulching is recommended to retain moisture and stabilize soil temperature. Fertilizing is carried out 1–2 times per season with complex fertilizers for ornamental foliage plants. Hosta is frost-hardy and overwinters without protection in USDA zones 3–8.
