Geichera Forever Red forms a dense, compact bush with rich red leaves that retain their decorativeness throughout the season. An adult plant reaches 20–30 cm in height and up to 35 cm in width, during flowering - up to 40 cm with flower stalks. The bush is dense, keeps its shape well without falling apart, suitable for borders, mass plantings and containers.
The leaves are large, deeply lobed, with a slight corrugation along the edge, glossy. The main color is intense red. In spring it is brighter, in summer it becomes deeper, and in autumn it acquires a rich dark red hue. With sufficient lighting, the color is stable throughout the season, which is important for creating contrasting compositions.
Blooms from June to August. The flower stalks are thin, rise above the leaves and bear small pink-red flowers in light panicles. Flowering adds a vertical accent, but the main decorativeness is maintained precisely at the expense of the leaves.
For planting, choose partial shade or a place with diffused sun. In full sun in the heat, the color may be muted, in deep shade - a decrease in the intensity of red. The soil needs to be light, loose, well-drained, with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction. Stagnation of water is undesirable - it reduces the density of the bush and can cause the root collar to rot. Watering is moderate, regular in the hot period. Frost resistance is high (up to -34 ° C), in snowless winters, light mulching is desirable. For maximum decorativeness, remove old leaves in spring and rejuvenate the bush by dividing every 3-4 years - this stimulates the formation of a new, rich rosette.
